Amazon jungle adventure itinerary

Your Amazon jungle adventure begins at the CEASA port in Manaus. From there, you’ll board a speedboat to Careiro da Várzea, followed by a van ride to the Araçá community.  The final leg is a speedboat transfer to the jungle lodge, all guided by a fluent Portuguese and English-speaking guide.

Amazon jungle adventure – Day 1: Arrival & Piranha Fishing

At around 11:30 AM, you’ll arrive at the lodge, where your guide will show you to your accommodations. Shortly after, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch, with fresh regional fruits. Once you’ve had a chance to relax in the hot Amazon climate, the excitement begins at 3:00 PM with piranha fishing on Lake Mamori. Accompanied by a native guide, you’ll sail through small rivers, using rods to catch these iconic fish.

As the day winds down, you’ll return to the lodge to watch the stunning Amazon sunset, while observing birds heading back to their nests—a perfect opportunity to capture photos and videos. Afterward, dinner will be served before you prepare for an exhilarating nighttime alligator spotting tour. You’ll then head out on the water with a guide, and using a flashlight, they’ll spot and carefully catch small alligators to explain their species and habits. Rest assured, the animals are handled humanely and released safely back into the river.

Day 2: Bird Watching & Jungle Survival

Your Amazon jungle adventure continues as you start your day early with a bird-watching excursion at dawn. Lake Mamori comes alive with species like macaws, toucans, hawks, parrots, and herons. Afterward, you’ll return for breakfast before your native guide teaches you essential jungle survival skills, including how to find food, water, and basic orientation techniques.

Later in the day, following lunch, you’ll embark on a two- to three-hour jungle trek. This silent journey significantly increases your chances of spotting wildlife, such as sloths, monkeys, and even tarantulas! Upon finding a campsite, your guide will then demonstrate how to build a shelter and start a fire. As the evening sets in, you’ll learn to spear fish by shining a flashlight on the water and using a spear to catch fish for a jungle-style barbecue. Vegetarians can enjoy a selection of fruits and vegetables found in the jungle, while non-vegetarians can request chicken or rice from the lodge. Finally, you’ll end the day by sleeping in hammocks under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.

Day 3: Native Village Visit & Canoeing

Begin your morning with breakfast in the jungle before heading to a local native community Here, you’ll learn about the lives of Amazonian villagers, observing their agricultural methods and cassava flour production. You’ll experience the simplicity of living without electricity while enjoying a meal with the community.

After lunch, you’ll embark on a peaceful canoe tour through the river, trying to stay as quiet as possible to avoid scaring off the wildlife. This is a prime time for bird-watching and witnessing the beauty of the Amazon sunset. As night falls, the adventure continues with another round of spear fishing, followed by a search for poisonous snakes hiding in the treetops. Afterward, you’ll return to the native family’s house for dinner, enjoying the fish you caught earlier. Tonight, you’ll sleep in hammocks, complete with mosquito nets, in the traditional Amazonian way.

Day 4: Floating Jungle Exploration & Departure

On your final day, you’ll wake up at 7:00 AM for breakfast before embarking on a walk or canoe tour of the floating jungle depending on the season. The dry season allows for walks, while the rainy season offers canoe trips through the same lush jungle. Keep your eyes open for the chance to see a boa constrictor floating in the water!

After this morning exploration, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch. The afternoon offers time to relax and prepare for your return to Manaus. At 2:00 PM, you’ll depart the lodge the same way you arrived, reaching Manaus around 4:00 PM, where our driver will take you back to your hotel—bringing your unforgettable Amazon adventure to a close.
