A three-day jungle adventure
This three-day jungle adventure offers a deep dive into the heart of the Amazon, combining the thrill of exploring nature with the comfort of guided expertise.
Three-day jungle adventure – Day 1: Arrival and Exploration
Your adventure begins at the Port of Manaus (CEASA), where you’ll board a speedboat to the Port of Careiro da Várzea. From there, a van will transport you to the community of Araçá, followed by a final speedboat ride to the jungle lodge. Throughout the transfer, you’ll be accompanied by a fluent Portuguese and English-speaking guide.
You’ll arrive at the lodge around 11:30 AM. After settling into your accommodations, a delicious lunch will be served, with vegetarian and kosher options available. Given the Amazon’s warm climate, your first activity begins after 3:00 PM with piranha fishing.
Led by a native guide, you’ll navigate the smaller rivers surrounding Lake Mamori to fish for piranhas using traditional rods. As evening falls, you’ll return to the lodge to witness the spectacular Amazon sunset, capturing beautiful shots of birds returning to their nests.
After dinner, the guide will lead you on an exciting night alligator spotting expedition. Equipped with flashlights, you’ll search for alligators in the dark, and when spotted, your guide will temporarily immobilize a small alligator to teach you about the species and its habits before safely releasing it back into the river. Rest assured, this activity is carried out with the safety and well-being of both tourists and animals in mind.
Day 2: Jungle Trekking and Camping
At dawn, you’ll set out on an early bird-watching tour, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of bird species, including macaws, toucans, hawks, and herons.
After breakfast, the native guide will prepare you for an exciting jungle walk, teaching essential survival skills such as how to find food, water, and navigate through the dense forest. After lunch, you’ll continue your trek deeper into the jungle for about 2 to 3 hours. Keep your eyes peeled—if you’re lucky, you might spot animals like sloths, monkeys, or even tarantulas.
As dusk approaches, you’ll learn how to build a shelter and start a fire, setting up your hammock for the night. Then, it’s time for spear fishing in the river. Using your flashlight, you’ll lure fish to the surface and catch them using a spear. The evening concludes with a barbecue dinner made from your catch, with vegetarian options available from the natural bounty of the jungle. Many tourists describe the experience of sleeping under the Amazon sky, surrounded by the sounds of nature, as a mystical and unforgettable moment.
Day 3: Rubber Harvesting and Departure
Your day starts with a jungle breakfast, prepared from the food you’ve gathered. Afterward, you’ll canoe along the peaceful rivers, heading to a site rich with rubber trees. Here, you’ll engage in a hands-on activity, learning how to extract rubber from the trees, replicating the traditional methods used during the Amazon’s rubber boom between 1860 and 1910.
Following this unique experience, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch. You’ll have time to relax and pack before departing at 2:00 PM. The journey back to Manaus mirrors the route you took upon arrival, and by 4:00 PM, you’ll be back in the city. From the Port of Ceasa, our driver will return you to your hotel, marking the end of your Amazonian adventure.
