The port at CEASA

Your adventure begins at the CEASA port in Manaus, where you’ll board a speedboat heading to the port of Careiro da Várzea. Upon arrival, a van will take you to the Araçá community. From there, a brief boat ride will bring you to the jungle lodge. One of the main activities of the day is piranha fishing in the Amazon, alongside other thrilling experiences. A bilingual guide, fluent in Portuguese and English, will accompany you to provide an informative and seamless journey.

You’ll arrive at the lodge around 11:30 AM. After settling into your accommodations, enjoy a delicious lunch, with vegetarian options available. As the warm and humid Amazon climate can be intense, you’ll have time to relax after lunch before the afternoon’s activities begin.

At 3:00 PM, your piranha fishing excursion will start. Alongside a local guide, you’ll navigate narrow rivers near Mamori Lake, casting your line to catch the famous Amazonian piranha. As the day winds down, you’ll return to the lodge and enjoy a stunning Amazon sunset. This moment also offers a prime opportunity to watch diurnal birds returning to their nests—perfect for capturing photos and videos.

After a hearty dinner, your guide will lead a nighttime alligator spotting adventure. You’ll board a small boat and glide through the dark waters, searching for alligators. When the guide spots one, they’ll shine a flashlight on its eyes, briefly immobilizing it for a closer look. The guide will then capture a small alligator and provide detailed information about its species and behavior. After the observation, the alligator will be safely released back into the river. This activity prioritizes safety and respect for wildlife, ensuring no harm comes to the animals or the participants. You’ll end the day by returning to the lodge for a well-deserved rest.

You’ll arrive at an area rich with rubber trees, where local guides will teach you the traditional method of rubber extraction. You’ll tap a rubber tree and collect its latex, experiencing firsthand how rubber is made. Following this, you’ll gather around a campfire to hear fascinating stories about the Amazon’s rubber boom from 1860 to 1910.

After this enriching experience, return to the lodge for lunch. You’ll have time to relax and pack before departing at 2:00 PM, retracing your route back to Manaus. You’ll reach the CEASA port around 4:00 PM, where a driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel, marking the end of your unforgettable Amazon adventure.
